Became C.P.I.(M) Member in 1968; then served as C.P.I.(M) Kizhariyur Local Committee Member; C.P.I.(M) Kadiyangad Local Committee Secretary for 3 years from 1973; C.P.I.(M) Perambra Area Secretary for 9 years from 1981; C.P.I.(M) Balussery Area Secretary for 2 ½ years and Kozhikode District Committee Member. Also served as C.P.I.(M) Kozhikode District Secretary.Actively engaged in Trade Union field and Agricultural workers organisation from 1970; was leader for the Kizhariyoor Meerod Surplus Land agitation (1972) and ‘Kudikidappu Samaram’; severely wounded and hospitalised in a lathi charge in 1969; arrested, assaulted and jailed for 3 months during Emergency in 1976; was Secretary and the President of Perambra Estate Labour Union for 18 years from 1972; President, Quilandy Taluk Chethu Thozhilali Union (C.I.T.U.); Joint Secretary, State Chethu Thozhilali Federation (C.I.T.U.); Joint Secretary State Madya Vyavasaya Thozhilali Federation, State Secretary and All India Working Committee Member, C.I.T.U. Also served as C.I.T.U. Koyilandi Taluk Secretary and Kozhikode District Secretary.Served as Senate Member, Calicut University; Director, Plantation Corporation, Labour Welfare Fund Board, Kerala Toddy Workers Welfare Fund Board; Chairman, TEXFED. Now serves as State Secretariat Member, C.P.I.(M); State Committee Vice President and All India Working Committee Member, C.I.T.U.;Chairman,Subject Committee VII(Power, Labour and Labour Welfare) in the 14th KLA.
